Coordinating Council urges to resolve Javakheti Armenians' problems
The Coordinating Council for Protection of Javakheti Armenians' Rights believes that strengthening of Armenian-Georgian relations is possible through resolution of religious, language, cultural and educational problems of Javakheti Armenians.
The Council calls on the Armenian and Georgian leaders to address the problems of Armenians of Samtskhe Javakheti during Mikheil Saakashvili's visit to Yerevan this weekend
In particular the Council demands to determine the status of the Armenian language, return Armenian churches expropriated during the Soviet era, terminate political persecution against Javakheti Armenian public figures and release activist Vahaghn Chakhalyan.
