“Responsibility for ceasefire violation falls on Azerbaijani leadership"
Armenia's Defense Ministry has issued a statement slamming the recent incident along the contact line between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces, which left NKR defense Army serviceman Hovik Sukiasyan killed on the frontline.
"The incident shows again that Azerbaijani authorities do not control the behavior of their troops on the front line or incite provocations themselves. In either case, the responsibility falls on Azerbaijani leadership," said Spokesman for Armenia's Defense Ministry David Karapetyan.
The Armenian Defense Ministry extends its deepest condolences to the family of Hovik Sukiasyan.
On January 20, Azerbaijani frontier subdivisions opened intense fire at Karabakh positions in the southern direction of the contact line. Serviceman Hovik Sukiasyan was killed as a result of the firing. Armenian armed forces gave an adequate response by opening retaliatory fire.
The number of killed and wounded on the Azerbaijani side is not known.
