UN adopted a resolution
In New York the UN General Assembly adopted resolutions placing importance on the right of nations to self-determination, reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Adopting the Resolution on "Universal Implementation of Nations' Self-Determination", the UN General Assembly reaffirms and calls on paying special attention to violations of this right. Numerous UN-member states believe that the right to self-determination is one of the fundamental principles of international law, is current in the context of global events taking place today and is considered as one of the most important pillars for the entire international system.
The UN General Assembly has also adopted another resolution related to the cooperation between the UN and the Islamic Congress. According to the resolution, the GA is asking the above mentioned inter-governmental structures to continue cooperation aimed at solving universal issues such as international peace and security, disarmament, human rights and fundamental liberties, as well as the right of nations to self-determination.
The adoption of the resolutions was preceded by discussions of the UN's corresponding bodies and Armenia was one of the interested UN-member states participating in those discussions.
