All "Heritage" MPs delivered speeches during the second discussion of the draft law on changes in the RA law "On Language" at the National Assembly today.

According to Stepan Safaryan, Serzh Sargsyan's speech dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Republican Party of Armenia contradicts this draft law. Stepanyan advised everyone to follow up on Armenian diplomats' advice to different embassies, including advice on the opening of foreign language schools.

Stepan Safaryan says the changes foreseen in the law "On Language" is a political order. "We are currently discussing this draft law by a second reading when it wasn't even approved by a first reading. The government ignores the current issues in the sphere of education and is concentrated on the opening of 11 foreign language schools."

The ARF MPs also spoke against the changes in the law "On Language". "Discussing this draft law at a time when 70% of youth of Armenia see their future outside Armenia is a political order," said MP Lilit Galstyan.

ARF MP Ruzanna Arakelyan says the Armenian language will be a secondary language after the adoption of these legislative reforms and brought up the example of students wishing to take exams in English rather than Armenian.

MP Tigran Torosyan recalled Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan's sincere words according to which two Armenian businessmen offered him to open foreign language schools in Armenia. He complained that there had not been a discussion on the draft law for reforms.

The Republican Party of Armenia and other coalition forces are in favor of changes in the law "On Language". NA Chairman Hovik Abrahamyan announced that all of his proposals have been approved and his worries have been dispelled. Republican Karen Avagyan not only welcomes the opening of foreign language schools, but is also happy that the discussion of this draft law was a revelation for him. Avagyan called on the deputies to vote for the law "On Language".

OEK (Country of Law) representative Sukias Avetisyan said the oppositionists against the change in the law "On Language" are trying to show that they understand better than the Minister. "If you were so good and smart, the people should have voted for you and you would be in power."

He called on the majority of the National Assembly to not pay attention to the oppositionists and adopt the legislative reform. The discussion of the law is in progress.
