On December 20, Karen Karapetyan swore in as Yerevan Mayor at the City Hall. The inauguration ceremony was attended by President Serzh Sargsyan, Speaker of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II and other top officials.

President Sargsyan congratulated the newly elected Mayor wishing him resoluteness, success and vigor.

"Mr. Karapetyan is known as a good manager and enjoys respect in the capital. "I believe he will justify our hopes and will not disappoint those who saw him as Yerevan Mayor," said the Armenian President.

"My expectations are primarily connected with your working style. During a solemn sitting of the Republican Party of Armenia dedicated to the party's 20th anniversary, we spoke about the qualities and approaches of a good state official. I am hopeful that you will prove with your actions that you meet these criteria. In a couple of months we shall gather again to see whether or not we have meet the requirements set by us. Once we have met them, we shall be able to develop the country," Serzh Sargsyan said addressing the new mayor.

Note that A1+ was not allowed to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Our journalist was told at the municipality that A1+'s name was not included in the list.
