Enlisting an ill young man?
Resident of Etchmiadzin Vardanush Vardanyan has addressed an appeal to the RA Ombudsman, informing him that her son Gor Vardanyan (born 23 September 1989) has undergone a medical examination at the military registration and enlistment office in Etchmiadzin. Doctors have diagnosed an open prosthesis and infraction of articulating for which he has been deferred from compulsory military service for three years.
The applicant claims that the subsequent medical examination held in November of this year affirmed the same diagnosis. In addition, her son's teeth have deteriorated and all treatments prescribed were fruitless. However, without taking her son's disease into consideration, the medical commission has acknowledged him as fit for service and has given him a notice to leave for army enlistment on 3 December 2010.
According to the applicant, her son is not fit for military service since his health is getting worse. She has asked the Ombudsman's intervention to send her son to another medical examination.
RA Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan has addressed a letter to the RA Military Commissar, General-Major S. Chalyan with the proposal to hold a detailed medical examination to determine whether Gor Vardanyan is fit for service in the RA Armed Forces.
