NA Chairman is leaving for Der Zor
NA Chairman Hovik Abrahamyan's visit to the Syrian Arab Republic continues.
Yesterday the delegation headed by the NA Chairman was received by President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar Al-Asad.
The President appreciated the role of the Syrian-Armenian community in the development of Armenian-Syrian fraternal ties and considered the deepening of economic cooperation in different directions as important.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon Armenian-Turkish relations, regional conflicts and stressed that the issues must be solved through peaceful negotiations and that there must be peace and stability in the region.
According to the NA press service, NA Chairman Hovik Abrahamyan's next meeting in Damascus was with Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Naji Al-Otri.
The Prime Minister considered the NA Chairman's visit as important in the context of deepening of Syrian-Armenian cooperation. He mentioned that the partnership between the parliament and the government is an important prerequisite for progress and development of the country. The Prime Minister presented details on the primary directions and achievements of Syria's economy.
After the meeting, NA Chairman Hovik Abrahamyan and the delegates left for Aleppo where they were greeted by governor of Aleppo Ali Ahmad Mansura, members of the governorship and heads of the Aleppo-Armenian community.
On the same day the NA delegation had a meeting with the governor of Aleppo and members of the governorship.
Later the delegation took part in the opening of an exposition of Armenian products. Attending the event were Aleppo's governor, the chairman of the Armenian-Syrian Business Council and representatives of the Armenian community.
"The current 4 million dollar circulation of products doesn't correspond to our real potential. It is necessary to use that potential because I believe there is the necessary favorable environment and the legal-contractual field to promote and strengthen relations between businessmen and, what is very important is that the sides have the political will to support the programs and initiatives aimed at strengthening economic ties," said Hovik Abrahamyan.
Today the delegation headed by the NA Chairman will leave from Aleppo for Der Zor and will return to Yerevan on the same day.
