Soldier Manvel Hazroyan arrested over army deaths
Serviceman Manvel Hazroyan injured during the November 19 incident at NKR armed forces frontline has been arrested on charges of killing four soldiers. Hazroyan is charged with Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code (Murder of two or more persons).
Though official sources say Hazroyan has pleaded guilty, his relatives do not believe the official version.
Talking to Azatutiun Radio Station, Manvel's brother Grigor said his brother "had been entrapped"
"Manvel was taken to a ward from the resuscitation department only yesterday. He is constantly guarded by investigators. We are not allowed to have a private conversation with Manvel. I don't believe that Manvel could have killed four people. How could one soldier shoot the others, and then attempt suicide by shooting himself two times?" said Grigor.
At around midnight November 19, four conscripts (Levon Yesayan, 19; Nerses Galoyan, 20; Narek Sahakyan, 20; Nver Sargsyan, 19) died from gunfire on the southern border of Nagorno-Karabakh, in Martuni region. Conscripts Sargis Melkumyan, 19; Khachik Alexanyan, 18; Masis Grigoryan, 19, and Manvel Hazroyan, 19, are wounded.
