Armenian parliamentary delegation off to Syria

An Armenian delegation headed by National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan today left for the Syrian Arab Republic for a three-day official visit.

According to a press release by the RA National Assembly, the delegation also includes Republican Party Chairman Galust Sahakyan, ARF-Dashnaktsutyun Chairman Vahan Hovhannisyan, deputies Anahit Bakhshayn, Surik Poghosyan, Martin Sargsyan and other high-ranking officials.

In Damascus, the Armenian Parliament Speaker is expected to meet the President of Syria Bashar Al-Asad, President of the National Assembly Mahmud Al-Abrash and Prime Minister Naji Otri. Hovik Abrahamyan will deliver a speech at the sitting of the Syrian Parliament.

The Speakers of Parliament of the two countries will sign a Memorandum of Understanding. The delegation headed by Hovik Abrahamayn will visit the Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese of Damascus.

In Aleppo, Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan will meet Governor Ali Ahmad Mansura and General Mufti of the Arab Republic of Syria Badr ad-Din Hassoun. He will attend the exhibition of Armenian products and meet representatives of the local Armenian community.

In Deir ez-Zor, Hvik Abrahamyan will meet Governor Husain Arnus. Members of the Armenian delegation will visit the memorial to the Armenian Genocide to pay tribute to the memory of the Genocide victims and will meet representatives of the Armenian community.
