"Russia will continue its efforts aimed at ensuring security in the region," Russian President Dmitry Medvedev announced today during a meeting with his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev in Baku.
According to Medvedev, Russia is ready to continue supporting the development of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the process of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"I agree that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be settled in accordance with the norms of international law and efforts are being made at all levels," said Dmitry Medvedev.
Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude for Russia's active participation in the process of negotiations aimed at settling the conflict and said that the "settlement will only be possible in accordance with the norms and principles of international law and based on the decisions of international organizations and the principles reflected in international declarations."
