HAK: Release Nikol
Statement by the HAK (Armenian National Congress):
"Not satisfied with the illegal sentencing and severe verdict against editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily Nikol Pashinyan, the authorities have overtly created inhumane conditions at the penitentiary as well and proof of that are the threats and assaults against the political prisoner at the "Kosh" penitentiary since September.
This is not by chance and is aimed at impeding Nikol Pashinyan's activism even in prison, breaking his will, forcing him to put an end to his political activities, silencing his "Haykakan Zhamanak" newspaper or getting an appeal for apology from him.
Knowing Nikol, we are sure that such efforts are in vain because he is not one who will stay silent or ask for forgiveness for crimes that he did not commit. The authorities must put an end to the inhumane and criminal actions perpetrated through the penitentiary administration and the criminal elements. We have grounds to announce that Nikol's health and life are in danger in prison every day.
With that said, taking into account this unprecedented, extreme situation that Nikol Pashinyan is in and claiming the release of all political prisoners, the Armenian National Congress is demanding the immediate release of Nikol Pashinyan and the assurance of his physical security until the end of the legal formulation process to solve the issue."
