This morning freedom fighter Gevorg Hayrapetyan declared a hunger strike at the "Kentron" penitentiary. Hayrapetyan was sentenced to prison on October 25 under the charge of betraying the homeland, as his advocate Seda Safaryan told "A1+".
"I talked to my client yesterday and he told me that he will go on a hunger strike today. He was in such a psychological state that I don't think he will change his mind. I will visit him tomorrow," said the advocate.
According to Seda Safaryan, Gevorg Hayrapetyan demands a fair revision of his case and says only after that will he put an end to the hunger strike.
"He thinks that the National Security Service is continuing persecutions against him, is psychologically pressuring him and taking advantage to cause a dispute, while employees ignore him. He says some officials have managed to form an opinion that he is truly a traitor," said Mrs. Safaryan.
Press speaker of the Head of the Department of Penitentiaries Arsen Babayan promised to find out whether Gevorg Hayrapetyan is on a hunger strike or not.
