Rostov Region Governor receives gold medal

The National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia has awarded a gold medal to Governor of Rostov Region Vasily Golubev for strengthening cooperation between Armenia and Rostov in the in scientific sector.

"We are glad that the Governor of Rostov Region is interested in scientific collaboration, which suggests solid grounds for new programs," NAS President Radik Martirosyan said in his opening remarks.

For his part, Vasily Golubev said that the relations between Armenia and Rostov were established 230 years ago. Today over 200,000 Armenians reside in Rostov and there are seven Armenian schools in the region.

"We must deepen cooperation and accelerate integration in the spheres of education and science," said Vasily Golubev.
A cooperation agreement between the NAS and the Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Rostov-on-Don was signed in 2004.
