"There is a crisis of confidence in Armenia," President of the Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR) Ara Abrahamyan said October 18.

"One needs strong will power to implement programs in Armenia," Mr. Abrahamyan told A1+.

The UAR President blamed the Armenian authorities and the opposition for the lack of confidence in the country.
"If you have elected someone, you should give him time to keep his promises. You cannot criticize him without seeing his work," said Aram Abrahamyan.

Asked whether the release of political prisoners would not return confidence among people, Mr. Abrahamyan said, "Confidence is gained through actions, step by step. The role of authorities is decisive in this sense. It is too difficult to work without confidence."

The UAR President thinks Armenia has surmounted the first phase of the global economic crisis though the consequences are still felt.

Mr. Abrahamyan plans to resume construction in Northern Avenue starting November 1.
"We shall finish the half-built houses and erect new ones," he said.

Aram Abrahamyan today thanked President Serzh Sargsyan for the right economic policy.
"The president was able to take loans from international organizations in due time and preserve our economic potential thanks to his good calculations."

Mr. Abrahamyan is not concerned about Armenia's external debt. He thinks the country will be able to repay the debt after it fully overcomes the crisis.

"Nothing is excluded," he said answering a question about his possible return to Armenia.
