“It is a pity that Turkey does not recognise Genocide”
On October 12, an Armenian delegation headed by National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan visited Greece.
In Athens, the Armenian delegation was received by Greek President Karolos Papoulias.
President Papoulias hailed bilateral friendly and warm relations based on historic similarities.
"Turkey has inflicted great loses to Armenians and Greeks," said the Greek President expressing regret over Turkey's failure to apologize for the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Empire.
President Papoulias said the upcoming visit of his Armenian counterpart to Greece would further cement relations between the two countries and promote interstate collaboration.
Speaking about the Karabakh conflict, the Greek President stressed that it should be settled through peaceful talks in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The Armenian parliament speaker expressed gratitude for warm reception and noted that since independence Armenia has established strong ties with Greece, based on centuries-old friendship between the two peoples.
The parties dwelt on Armenian-Turkish relations and the problems of the Armenian community of Greece.
Later in the day, the Armenian delegation had a meeting with the Speaker of the Greek Parliament, Philippos Petsalnikos.
Hovik Abrahamyan attached importance to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations and bilateral visits at different levels.
Philippos Petsalnikos expressed conviction that the visit would help deepen bilateral relations.
