Slovenes admire the Armenian nation and its centuries-old history
President of the Republic of Slovenia Danilo Turk has arrived in Armenia for an official visit at the invitation of Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan.
The Presidents of Armenia and Slovenia held a face-to face meeting today followed by negotiations with participation of the official delegation of the two countries.
Greeting the guest, Serzh Sargsyan voiced hope that the first visit of the President of Slovenia to our country would give new impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
Underlining that Slovenia and Armenia have gained their independence as a result of similar processes and have been engaged in state-building in the same period of time, President Sargsyan noted that it could have been the reason of rare reciprocal visits up until now.
"We have much in common, even our fates are alike. I do believe this serves as a good basis for the development and reinforcement of our relations," President Sargsyan said.
Noting that this is the first ever visit of the Slovenian President to Armenia, Danilo Turk assured that people in his country admire the Armenian nation and its centuries-old history.
"Armenia's long and rich history is comparable to the history of very few countries," the President of Slovenia said.
The meeting of the official delegations of the two countries was followed by a document-signing ceremony and a joint press conference of the Presidents of Armenia and Slovenia.
