Armenia's stance on the Karabakh conflict remains unchanged. The issue should be solved exceptionally in a peaceful way without the use of force and strictly in line with international law," Armenian President Sertzh Sargsyan said during a joint press conference with his Slovene counterpart Danilo Türk.

"The sooner Karabakh joins the negotiations, the sooner we can reach an agreement on the settlement of the conflict," President Sargsyan said.

The Slovenian President highlighted the peaceful settlement of the conflict and reinforcement of confidence between the negotiating sides.

The Karabakh issue should be solved peacefully, taking immediate measures to restore confidence between the conflicting parties. Frozen conflicts are misleading, hence they should be unfrozen and settled," Danilo Türk stressed.

The two presidents drew parallels between Karabakh and Kosovo.

"There is only one difference between the two conflicts. The difference between Nagorno Karabakh and Kosovo is that the people of Nagorno Karabakh won the war themselves, without NATO's assistance. Today Karabakh is patiently waiting for the international community to recognise its unilaterally declared independence," he said.

Further, the Armenian president reminded that NKR declared itself independent in compliance with international norms.

The Slovenian president today urged Turkey to continue normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations and ratification of Armenian-Turkish Protocols.

"Slovenia is for EU expansion. Although the negotiations on Turkey's members are progressing slowly, Ankara must be well aware that all the EU members must meet the organization's standards, without any exceptions," the Slovenian president said.
