The first instance court of Kentron and Nork-Marash districts today continued the trial of Armenian National Congress activists Sargis Gevorgyan and David Kiramijyan.

They were arrested near Freedom Square on May 31.

David Kiramijyan is charged with hooliganism, while Sargis Gevorgyan is charged with applying force against a state representative.

Sargis Gevorgyan today testified and told the court that he and the people gathered at the square hadn't committed any illegal acts. "I saw how the police were beating David. The injured party, witness Lusine and Varazdat Tadevosyan were provoking a dispute and the police were pushing and shoving," said Sargis Gevorgyan.

According to him, they appeared near Saryan's statue because of the police. "If the police dragged us to "Cascade", we would go there," said Sargis.

Although Sargis mentioned that there was not more than 100 people there on that day, judge Harutyun Harutyunyan tended to differ. According to him, there were more than 100 people.

David Kiramijyan will testify during the next trial to be held on October 12.
