Our country has been independent for the past 19 years and I think we have reached more than other nations who didn't have independence and received it," said Vice-President of the Republican Party of Armenia, Deputy of the National Assembly Razmik Zohrabyan as he congratulated everyone on Armenia's Independence Day.

"We remember our history well. We have had a strong statehood that was lost and we waited for independence for centuries."

Razmik Zohrabyan considers himself as a participant of the struggle for independence and says: "We must cherish our independence every day and fight for it, develop our economy, have a strong army because if we forget about independence, we will fall."

He doesn't like the fact that the government and the opposition are celebrating Armenia's Independence Day separately. "There has to be at least one holiday that we can celebrate together."

Razmik Zohrabyan blames both the government and the society for the fact that people first recall their difficult social-economic conditions instead of being happy for the declaration of independence.

Zohrabyan says the establishment of two Armenian states is the greatest achievement in the years of independence.

"The social issues are temporary and we will live a better life in the near future than most developed European countries," said the deputy.
