Elections: in the fall or never
Political scientist Hmayak Hovhannsyan says he will participate in the Armenian National Congress's September 17 rally after hearing the Congress's statement according to which the rallies will be ongoing.
"The Armenian National Congress is committed to continuing the rallies," Hmayak Hovhannisyan told "A1+".
According to the political scientist, the opposition must reach certain results this time, that is, holding state elections.
If the issue is not solved in the fall, according to Hmayak Hovhannisyan, special elections will become nonsensical because there is only one and a half year left until the next elections.
Will there be any developments of of the Karabakh conflict that may lead to certain changes in Armenia's inter-political life? In response, Hovhannisyan said:
"I don't see any development and I view the expectations as a serious obstacle on the opposition's road to become active."
"We can't turn the country's development and the highly important issue of radicalization of democratic institutions into a hostge and even subordinate the Karabakh conflict settlement because that is a false formulation that doesn't work. The settlement of the Karabakh conflict is linked to the perspectives of modernization of society, politics and economy in the country," said Hovhannisyan.
