"Karabakh Committee" member Ashot Manucharyan thinks the Nagorno Karabakh Republic has lost its independence.

"Karabakh has not put forward any initiative since 1998. Armenia's political elite which was enriched by Karbakh investments contributed to the destruction of Karabakh's independence," Manucharyan told reporters Sept. 15.

The destruction started when Robert Kocharyan [Karabakh's ex president] settled in Armenia and assumed the post of RA PM.

"Neither Armenia nor NKR have a distinct political course today. We simply imitate other countries following their suggestions which have nothing to do with the interests of Armenia, Karabakh or Azerbaijan," he said.

However, Manucharyan sees positive changes in Armenia which might lead to the repetition of the events of 1988.

"Before 2007, people were somehow sleepy in Armenia. With its arrival, the Armenian National Congress gave a fresh stimulus to a certain layer of public which was in constant search for something. But, ANC has not been able to answer all questions though it is still seeking solutions. It is very important that ANC takes its cause to the end," Manucharyan concluded.
