Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan today left for Artik where he took part in the opening of the newly built cultural home.

Before the opening ceremony of the cultural home, the Prime Minister planted a tree near the center.

After cutting the ribbon to enter the cultural home, the Prime Minister warmly congratulated the residents of Artik and toured the newly built building.

In response to journalists' questions, the Prime Minister stated: "The halls and classrooms of the cultural home will provide the opportunity to hold large events. This will promote the rise of a new wave of culture in Artik and it emanates from the community proportional development program. We have to bring culture to the provinces as well."

The cultural home of Artik was built in accordance with the will of well-known painter, sculptor Varaz Samuelyan. The first floor of the culture home with a 550 square meter area built by the "Hayastan" All Armenian Fund features a hall for ceremonies, as well as classrooms for art and music groups on the second floor.

Varaz Samuelyan was born in Yerevan to a family of survivors of the Armenian Genocide and moved to the U.S. after the Great Patriotic War. In the U.S. he became a well-known painter and sculptor. The bronze statue of Sasuntsi David in Fresno is one of the symbols of the Armenian identity in the U.S.
