Meeting at the parliament
Chairman of the RA National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan received the delegates of the Canada-Armenia Friendship Group of the House of Commons of Canada.
Among the delegates are Chairman Harold Albrecht, delegates Robert Olfant and Tony Martin. Attending the meeting were Chief of Staff of the RA National Assembly Gegham Gharibjanyan and Head of the Armenia-Canada Friendship Group of the RA National Assembly Hovhannes Sahakyan.
The Chairman of the RA National Assembly attached importance to the role of parliaments and parliamentary diplomacy in a rapidly changing world. Hovik Abrahamyan conveyed his warm greetings and the invitation to visit Armenia to the speaker of the Canadian Parliament and expressed gratitude to the Canadian Parliament for recognizing the Armenian Genocide.
The Chairman of the National Assembly considered the activation of bilateral economic relations as necessary, stating that Canada is represented in Armenia through different organizations and shows notable assistance to the country. Abrahamyan considered Canada's support in the UN as tangible. He also expressed willingness to promote the activation of bilateral relations, the expansion of relations between parliaments and attached importance to the presence of a Canadian Embassy in Armenia.
During the meeting, the sides also addressed the Karabakh conflict and Armenian-Turkish relations.
