Why didn't Clinton visit Turkey?

Politics

"The visit of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was called a tour around Eastern Europe, but there was no visit to Turkey and this means that the relations between the US and Turkey are not too smooth. Turkey wasn't viewed as a part of Eastern Europe," head of "Heritage" faction Stepan Safaryan said during a press conference at "Hayatsk" club.

According to him, the visit of the Secretary of State to Tsitsernakaberd was an act that evidently presents the U.S.'s attitude toward Turkey at this moment.

"The U.S. also isn't showing the support that Turkey has always expected for European integration. What's fundamental is the U.S.'s attitude toward Turkey and its policies in the region," he said.

Stepan Safaryan attached importance to the fact that Hillary Clinton made it clear that this region is of strategic importance for the U.S. and nobody will be allowed to reach a conflict settlement through other roads besides peace.

"This was an important warning to everyone, first of all Azerbaijan which, in the past couple of months, has been trying to check the international community's reaction to the conflict settlement by force," added the head of the "Heritage" faction.
