"Pre-term elections will be held in Armenia and Azerbaijan only in case the Karabakh conflict is resolved," Vahan Shirkhanyan, former Deputy Defence Minister of Armenia and member of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party (SDHK) board said June 30.

The SDHK member believes that the institute of elections was deliberately destroyed in the South Caucasus countries in order to ensure outside governance in the region.
"Karabakh will not gain independence unless Turkey recognises the Armenian Genocide," he said.

Mr. Shirkhanyan views Turkey as number one menace to Armenia and says Armenia should force Turkey to recognise the Genocide which will ensure Karabakh's independence.

The powers of the OSCE Minsk group are to be clarified as it is still unclear who will curb militaristic actions in case of a new war.

Vahan Shirkhanyan excludes resumption of the war though he foresees aggravation of the conflict.
