Lie will be caught
RA President Serzh Sargsyan met representatives of the Armenian community of Germany on the evening of his official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany on June 21.
Serzh Sargsyan thanked the community for consistent support to Armenia and Artsakh and notable efforts for international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the preservation of the Armenian identity. The RA President said that the Homeland is responsible for the long life of the Diaspora. "We must multiply our efforts toward that," said Serzh Sargsyan.
Spiritual leader of the German Armenian community, Archbishop Garegin Bekchian and the representatives of the community welcomed the RA President's visit to Germany and considered it as a good opportunity to discuss issues related to preservation of the Armenian identity and receive information about the latest developments of the most important issues facing Armenia. Serzh Sargsyan answered the attendees' questions which mainly referred to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the attempt to normalize Armenian-Turkish relations and the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
President Sargsyan said in particular: "We see a huge wave of intolerance toward Armenians and everything Armenian among the Azeri society. Azeri presses are digging deep into the origins of European, Russian and American officials to find out whether their ancestors had Armenian blood. This is outlining new formulas of anti-Armenian ideology according to which Armenians are to blame for everything. At first, no Armenian treated this seriously and was sure that the lie would soon be caught. But that lie is surmounting and is receiving funding worth millions of dollars. Attacking the anti-Armenian and inhuman obscenities is one of the most significant challenges facing Armenians today, particularly Armenians in Europe," said Serzh Sargsyan.
Today the RA President will have meetings with the political elite and the circles of businessmen of the Federal Republic of Germany. Serzh Sargsyan will also be received at the Conrad Adenauer Foundation.
