"Armenia is following up attentively on developments of Iran's nuclear program and finds that all disputable issues must be solved through peaceful talks. We hope that it will be possible to come to terms on solutions through the combined efforts of Iran and the international community," said Head of the Department of Relations with Media at the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tigran Balayan.

Late last evening, the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution setting coarser sanctions against Iran with the purpose of forcing Tehran to refuse its nuclear program.

The resolution requires that UN countries take necessary measures to prevent any technical assistance to the creation of Iran's nuclear program.

It is prohibited to supply new technologies, helicopters, combat planes, tanks, military ships and missiles. The UN countries are assigned to strictly check cargo being transferred to Iran, confiscate and in case of need, eliminate any suspicious cargo.

The resolution calls on UN countries to be alert when engaging in business relations with companies registered in Iran or under the competence of Iran. It also sets sanctions against 40 Iranian organizations, prohibits procurement of property in other countries by Iran, the creation of joint enterprises and the establishment of new businesses.
