During today's government-parliament meeting, Armenian deputies requested Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian to present Armenia's stance on the updated Madrid Principles, which according to the Azerbaijani side are acceptable for Azerbaijan and obscure for Armenia.

"Two years ago, Armenia announced that it accepted the document as a basis for talks. Two years later, Azerbaijan pretends to be accepting something. But what is it? What does Azerbaijan accept in reality? For us, the key issue of the Karabakh conflict settlement is the determination of Karabakh's status," the Armenian FM said.

"Azerbaijan does not accept Karabakh's right to self-determination and the draft agreement on the non-use of force. They only raise the issue of territorial wholeness," the minister added and compared Azerbaijan's posture with "Goebbels' propaganda machine" through which Azerbaijan cheats its people.

Head of Heritage faction Stepan Safarian noted that Azerbaijan's parliament has recently adopted a new military doctrine, which allows stationing of foreign military bases in the territory of Azerbaijan and suggests a military solution to the Karabakh conflict.

"Is the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs going to make a statement in this connection?" Safarian asked.

In response, Minister Nalbandian said that the changes contradict the Constitution of Azerbaijan.

"During the meetings and negotiations, we raise the issue of Azerbaijan's bellicose statements and threatening," said the Armenian FM.

Regarding the possibility of placing military bases in Azerbaijan, Edward Nalbandian said, "They cannot speak to us with "ifs" otherwise Armenia will take retaliatory measures."
