On May 25, Armenia won a victory over Uzbekistan in a friendly meeting at Yerevan's Republican Stadium. Henrikh Mkhitaryan opened the score at the first half-match, followed by two other goals by Edgar Manucharyan
The guests were able to kick a goal in the second half.

"On the whole, I am pleased with the outcome of the meeting which I cannot say about the game quality. During the first match, our footballers performed excellently but in the second half, they hardly moved. I think their confidence was conditioned by the difference in the score," chief coach of the Armenian football team Vardan Minasyan said after the Armenia-Uzbekistan friendly meeting.

Minasyan highly scored the Armenian rival saying the Uzbekistan team failed to demonstrate their abilities to the full.

Head coach of Uzbekistan national team Vadim Abramov says his team had a timid start.

"The Armenian team was well determined and they quickly achieved their aim. We had an unpromising start, missed three goals and had to counterattack with ten footballers. Our footballers played better in the second half though we lost the meeting."

Vadim Abramov complained of refereeing saying their fullback was wrongly removed from the field. He meant Atryom Philiposyan, an Uzbekistan team footballer, who was forbidden to continue the match after violating the rules while competing with Edgar Manucharyan.

"I simply understood that Tbilisi is closer to Yerevan than to Tashkent," Abramov said jokingly meaning the chief referee who was from Georgia.
