Armenian-French canal to open
Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan received President of the General Council of Hauts-de-Seine, Minister of Economic Recovery Plan of France Patrick Devedjian.
Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandyan expressed content with the high level of friendly relations between Armenia and France and attached importance to Patrick Devedjian’s personal contribution to the reinforcement and deepening of those relations.
The delegation led by Patrick Devedjian is in Armenia within the framework of Hauts-de-Seine’s implementation of projects for the development of Tavush region. The Hauts-de-Seine department’s council began the implementation of projects aimed at updating agricultural infrastructures in Tavush region in 2008.
Minister Nalbandyan expressed gratitude for the department’s participation in the projects being implemented under patronage of “Hayastan” All Armenian Fund and stressed that it was evidence of the broadening cooperation between Armenia and France.
The parties noted with content that decentralized cooperation is also actively developing and proof of that are the ongoing mutual visits and implementation of joint projects, as reported by the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On May 22, the opening ceremony of the Armenian-French Friendship Canal will be held in Tavush region. The nearly 15 km Armenian-French Friendship Canal will provide irrigation for over 600 hectares of land in the Khashtarak, Lusahovit and Ditavan communities.
