First Secretary of the Communist Party of Armenia Ruben Tovmasyan kept receiving calls on his mobile phone today. After enjoying the song "Victory Day" for a couple of minutes, Comrade Tovmasyan picks up the phone and says, "Yes, a huge event and a march are scheduled for May 1 and we invite you to attend."

Before setting the song "Victory Day" as a ringtone on his phone, Tovmasyan's ringtone was "Arise, great country". However, Tovmasyan preferred the song "Victory Day" on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War.

On May 1, Communists of Armenia promise many flowers, balloons and, of course, "hooray". There was commotion at the building of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia as they were preparing for the events of May 1.

"May is the day of workers and villagers. Everyone knows how May 1 started. It was a result of high pressure from workers of Chicago. In 1889, the Second International declared May 1 as an international holiday and it spread across the globe after the Great Socialist October Revolution," Comrade Tovmasyan said proudly to "A1+" today.

On May 1, Armenian Communists will gather near the Opera building and march toward Stepan Shahumyan Square where they will hold the main event.

Ruben Tovmasyan told "" that they will criticize the state of the country, including inflation, unemployment, the new sweep in emigration and more.

"Workers built Soviet Armenia for 70 years and now they are left with nothing."

May 1 was first celebrated in Armenia in 1919. Comrade Tovmasyan is offended and concerned with the fact that although May 1 is on the holiday calendar, it is not celebrated the way it should be celebrated. The foundation of Soviet Armenia is not celebrated either when "the current rotten system is living with the riches left by Soviet Armenia. They steal everything, but don't celebrate the day."

Comrade Tovmasyan assured "" that the Communists will definitely return to power. "The Communist ideology is the only one with a slogan: "Everything for people and everything for the sake of people". "We have been implementing this for the 70 consecutive years." Comrade Tovmasyan is concerned about how the Armenian authorities are preparing for the 65th anniversary of Victory Day.

There are only 3,000 veterans of the Great Patriotic War in Armenia of which the majority are living in extreme social conditions.

"Six hundred thousand Armenians participated in the Great Patriotic War of which 300 thousand sacrificed their lives for victory. We had 4 marshals, 2 two-time heroes and awarded 75,000 people. Armenians participated in that war, but the veterans are in a horrible state and many of them still wear clothes worn in the Soviet era," he says.

Ruben Tovmasyan blames General Secretary of the Central Committee Gorbachev for the current state in all post-Soviet countries for "serving Western powers and leading the powerful Soviet Union to collapse" 20 years ago.

How many members does the Communist Party of Armenia have today? Ruben Tovmasyan did not give a specific number and mentioned that that was confidential.
