400 killed in China earthquake
At least 400 people have died and thousands are feared hurt after a magnitude-7,1 earthquake struck China's western Qinghai province. The death toll is expected to be higher, as the impact of the quake was very high.
According to foreign media, scores of people are buried under the debris due to building collapse. The epicenter of the quake was located at 375 kilometers (235 miles) southeast of the city of Golmud.
Most of the buildings in the worst-hit town of Jiegu town were wrecked, and landslides have cut off roads.
Last time China witnessed such a fierce earthquake was in 1976.
