Sanahin to be restored
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan today paid a working visit to Lori province, particularly Sanahin monastery and Alaverdi where he got acquainted with the current state and issues of the monastery.
In 2000, UNESCO included Sanahin monastery in the list of "World Cultural Values", which also includes the monasteries of Geghard and Haghpat and Echmiadzin complex (Mother Temple, St. Hripsime, St. Gayane, St. Shoghakat and Zvartnots Temple).
Tigran Sargsyan also visited the house-museum of Brothers Mikoyan and the school after A. Mikoyan. The year 2010 marks the 115th anniversary of Anastas Mikoyan and the 105th anniversary of Artem Mikoyan. The Prime Minister and those accompanying him toured the museum and were introduced to the exhibition.
The Prime Minister met with the teachers and students at the school after A. Mikoyan and held a working consultation on the issue of restoring Sanahin monastery.
The Prime Minister mentioned that a complex plan is necessary for restoration of Sanahin. It is envisaged to create a commission the members of which must be representatives of corresponding ministries, clergymen of the Armenian Apostolic Church and professionals. The commission will conduct detailed studies on the issue of restoring the church complex and present conclusions to the prime minister.
Tigran Sargsyan was also introduced to issues facing Sanahin rural district. He assigned corresponding ministries and donated a computer to the school. Tigran Sargsyan then left for Alaverdi.
