The RA Public Council has arrived at the conclusion that "corporations" have become a must in villages.

Republican Hovhannes Sahakyan and leader of People's Party Tigran Karapetian today debated on the draft law "On Rural Corporations" proposed by the Public Council.
Mr. Karapetyan noted that peasants cannot receive credits, agricultural machinery, fertilizers, and free water for irrigation by the draft law.

"The bill suggests that farm labourers will get affiliated with corporations while kulaks will become even richer," said Mr. Karapetyan.

"Will you, please, tell me as a representative of the leading Republican Party how much money did you give peasants from the 5300-million-dollar credit allotted by the Russian Federation?" Tigran Karapetyan asked his opponent.

"If you want to fill the budget, you had better encourage taxpayers. While in reality, you have uprooted them. You had better follow the sample of neighbouring Georgia. Your Prime Minister had better learn from Saakashvili how to deal with peasants."

In reply to Mr. Karapetyan's remarks, the Republican MP said he was well aware of peasants' problems and concerns.

"But the agricultural machinery of villages is worn out," observed Mr. Sahakyan.

Hardly had he finished the sentence when Mr. Karapetyan burst out: "Techniques are given to villages free of charge but they are later sold to peasants at $8000-10000. You have killed villages. Our villages will empty before your party cares to visit regions. Peasants are fleeing from villages in utter despair," said the leader of the People's Party.
