The latest events in Kyrgyzstan were the last and only road for civilians," advocates Mikayel Danielyan and Artur Sakunts told "A1+" today.
President of Helsinki Association Mikayel Danielyan welcomed the Kyrgyz people's revolt against the authorities.
"The people's decision to change power is normal. I don't know who motivated them or provided funding, but it is important for the people to be able to find the strength to revolt."
According to president of the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Office in Vanadzor Artur Sakunts, the latest events taking place in Kyrgyzstan are a salient example of what happens when the country's government is illegitimate. According to him, the events in Kyrgyzstan have created a precedent for change of power not through elections, but through a state overturn.
Referring to the preamble of the general proclamation of human rights, he said: "The preamble of the proclamation clearly states: the government must never pass laws that will leave citizens with the last measure, that is, revolution."
"Will the opposition, which has taken power into its hands, be able to create an atmosphere where there will no longer be state overturns? The number one issue now is to put an end to the uprising," said Artur Sakunts.
Is it possible to see the same scenario in Armenia? In response, advocate Mikayel Danielyan said:
"A revolution is possible in any case. All the people need is strong will and a very normal opposition that will be able to lead the people."
"Armenian oppositional forces have chosen a more principled, consistent method of struggle and won't move toward a state overturn through revolution, as was the case of Kyrgyzstan," said Artur Sakunts.
As far as violations of human rights registered in Armenia, according to Sakunts, they are systematic and "judiciaries have turned into the authorities' penalizing tool".
Will the conference of the International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH) held in Yerevan lead to positive changes? In response, Mikayel Danielyan said: "The Council of Europe has adopted 4 resolutions on Armenia from March 1 to this day. Did anything change? We can expect certain change when Armenia's integration into the CE is terminated."
