ARF bill voted down
The National Assembly today voted down a package of bills on the introduction of amendments to the RA Law on International Treaties and the Law on the Rules of Procedure proposed by the ARF Dashnaktsutyun. The bill received 24 votes for, 64 against and 5 abstentions.
Under the amendments, the parliament was to possess the right to insert reservations during the process of ratification of international treaties.
Today the parliament continued discussion of the bill on the RA Law on making supplements to the RA Law on State Budget which implies compensation of bank deposits to veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
The bill was presented by Minister of Finance Tigran Davtyan who noted that over 3700 veterans will exercise the right by January 1, 2010.
Gagik Minasyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, added that the state budget will earmark 700-900 million drams for the compensation.
The bill will be debated in due course.
