Deputy FM does not want to believe Babacan’s statement
Recently, Turkey's ex Foreign Minister Ali Babacan announced that during the Armenian-Turkish talks an agreement was reached on holding discussions on the Armenian Genocide.
Asked to comment on Mr. Babacan's announcement, Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Kirakosian said: "I don't want to believe that Turkey's ex FM could have made such a statement. Anyway, the statement sheds doubt as I have been present at all meetings on Armenian-Turkish reconciliation and never have I heard the sides to agree on holding discussions on the Genocide.
Armenia's President and Foreign Minister have repeatedly been declaring that Armenia has never questioned and will never question the fact of the Armenian Genocide and the importance of its international recognition. The Armenian Foreign Minister declared about it in Istanbul in 2008 during his meeting with the then Foreign Minister of Turkey, Ali Babacan. Any manipulation of the issue is improper and irrelevant today."
