CoE Congress session starts today
On March 17, Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan is scheduled to deliver a speech in the 18th session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. The session is due at 10.45 local time.
Mr. Beglaryan will address the CoE delegates after the discussion of municipal elections in Azerbaijan.
He will arrive in Strasbourg today evening. In his speech Gagik Beglaryan will dwell on the status of the capitals of South Caucasus.
The delegates will elect new Secretary General of the Congress, making a choice between three candidates. The agenda of the session includes issues relating to environmental problems, democracy at local self -government level, municipal elections in Azerbaijan, and others.
The Armenian delegation headed by Emin Yeritsyan features Natalia Lapauri, member of the Municipal Council of Yerevan, Alina Pogosyan, head of the community Nor Erznka and Varujan Nersisyan, mayor of Ijevan.
