Nikol received a "partial" sentencing
The Appeals Court today released the court's ruling for editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily Nikol Pashinyan. Judge Serzhik Avetisyan decided to deny the claims by prosecutors and advocates and reduced the sentencing by half by the resolution on "Declaring Amnesty".
Let us remind that the first instance court of Kentron and Nork-Marash districts had acknowledged Nikol Pashinyan as guilty under Part 1, Article 225 of the RA Penal Code (organizing mass disturbances) and Part 1 of Article 316 (using force against a state representative) and reached a fair verdict.
Nikol Pashinyan's advocates were also expecting a fair verdict from the Appeals Court, while the prosecutor had demanded recognizing Nikol Pashinyan guilty under Article 316.
Is amnesty possible? In response to that, RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan had previously said that the prosecution would file an appeal if amnesty wasn't applied for Nikol.
The court prevented the prosecution's possible "appeal".
