"Martyrs to independence"
Jirayr Sefilyan, member of Sardarapat Initiative, considers the victims of March 1, 2008, martyrs to independence.
"The first day of spring, 2008, started with a slaughter against Armenian people. Such authorities cannot rule for a long time. No policeman must raise a truncheon on an individual," Jirayr Sefilyan said during today's discussion at the Tekeyan Centre.
The discussion started with a minute of silence honouring the memory of the victims.
"The authorities started the day by collecting weapons which is characteristic of Osmanyan period when people were killed after being disarmed," said Edik Harutyunyan, the father of victim Samvel Harutyunyan.
