Levon Aronian ties with Boris Gelfand
Armenian GM Levon Aronian drew with Boris Gelfand of Israel in the ninth round of Linares chess tournament in Spain.
As usual, Levon Aronian was most cautious and did not let his rival arrange dangerous attacks.
Before that the Armenian GM had tied another eight games. Presently, he scores 3rd with 4,5 points.
In the same round Alexander Grischuk defeated Veselin Topalov.
After the ninth round the standings are as follows: Veselin Topalov (5.5), Alexander Grischuk (5.5), Levon Aronian (4.5).
On February 24, Levon Aronian will face Azerbaijan's Vugar Gashimov in the final round of the tournament. Topalov will play vs. Gelfand and Grischuk vs. Vallejo.
