Red Cross raising money for Hiati
"Help people suffering from an earthquake in Haiti!"
The sentence could be heard in Yerevan streets today.
Four groups of young people today held a charity action in downtown Yerevan. They went up to passers-by with a request to help Haitians.
"There were people who gave us 1000 drams," the volunteers of Armenian Red Cross told A1+.
Seeing the young people a beggar came up to the group and asked for money. After knowing the aim of the action, she handed out 20 drams saying: "I was given the coin minutes ago, take it if it can be helpful."
The volunteers are determined to continue the action until they collect sizable sum to send to Haiti.
On January 12 Armenian Red Cross launched a campaign to help Haitians. Ordinary citizens are welcome to hold a hand to Hiati by sending SMS to 3009 short number. The cost of each SMS is 500 AMD.
Armenian Government has allotted to Haiti $100 000.
