Inter-governmental commission to be created
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Karine Ghazinyan is in Warsaw on a two-day visit to hold political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Poland.
On the first day of her visit, Ghazinyan met with Polish Deputy Minister of Economy, correspondent of Poland's Economic Cooperation with the EU Marchin Korolets.
During the meeting, the parties underscored the need for promoting the Polish-Armenian economic cooperation and the importance of coordinating the cooperation through an inter-governmental commission.
The Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister attached importance to the talks being held on the "Treaty of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade" within the framework of the program. In response, the Deputy Economy Minister of Poland proposed Poland's expertise in developing the documents.
Approving the Armenia's side proposal to create an Armenian-Polish inter-governmental commission, the Polish side proposed to convene the commission's first session in Yerevan this year, taking into account the fact that the second session may be held in Warsaw in 2011 when Poland takes the EU presidency.
On the same day, Karine Ghazinyan met with members of the parliamentary friendship group of the Polish Seym and Senate and Armenia's National Assembly.
During the meeting, head of the Polish-Armenian parliamentary friendship group Lukash Abgarovich presented in detail the group's activities, attaching importance to the significance of the visit to Armenia.
The sides underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Polish and Armenian delegations at the parliamentary assemblies of international organizations.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ghazinyan responded to the Polish deputies' questions, clarifying issues related to Turkish-Armenian relations, the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and ensuring securtiy in the South Caucasus.
Members of the parliamentary friendship group were pleased to mention that the visit of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to Armenia would become a serious impetus for further development of Polish-Armenian relations and the reinforcement of relations between Polish and Armenian nations.
Ghazinyan also met with head of the standing committee on the EU Eastern Partnership at the Polish Seym, Tomash Lenz. During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to implementation of the Foreign Ministry's program in detail.
