Meeting with Queen Elizabeth II
Within the framework of his working visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, President Serzh Sargsyan had a meeting with her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues relating to perspectives for development of bilateral relations, the process of Armenia's European integration and the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations. The President of the Republic of Armenia presented the official Yerevan's position on the issues discussed.
At his residencde in London, President Sargsyan received the Foreign Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland David Miliband. The sides discussed issues related to British-Armenian relations and regional security. Serzh Sargsyan noted that Armenia attaches great importance to further deepening of political dialogue with Great Britain and the development of trade relations and is interested in broadening the partnership in different directions. The sides expressed confidence that the EU Eastern Partnership initiative opens a broad framework for the development of cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats. The President of the Republic of Armenia expressed gratitude to the government of the United Kingdom for support to Armenia since independence.
Serzh Sargsyan and David Miliband also discussed issues related to regional security, normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations and the talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. David Miliband welcomed the President's efforts aimed at normalizing relations with Turkey and mentioned that the United Kingdom supports the process and is interested in strengthening peace in the region.
Serzh Sargsyan also had a meeting with Prince Charles at Windsor Castle. He attended the reception marking the start of the "Yerevan-my love" project initiated by former Prime Minister of Armenia Armen Sargsyan. Participating in the reception organized by Prince Charles were many fellow Armenians who had traveled to London for the event.
During his visit to London, Serzh Sargsyan also had a separate meeting with renowned Armenian businessmen and public figures. Sargsyan considered the economic progress of Armenia and Artsakh, the reinforcement of relations with the Mother Homeland and their long-running activities aimed at preserving Armenian identity in Armenian communities as invaluable. "I am certain that we will be able to solve the current issues and assurely progress on the road towards implementing our national goals together. I am sure that there will come a day when the state flag of the Republic of Armenia will make each Armenian proud and happy as the symbol of Ararat," said Serzh Sargsyan.
