The RA Ministry of Justice appealed to executive director of the regulatory commission at the French "AXA" insurance company, Barsegh Gartalian. Let us remind that the issue relating to the compensation of sums to the inheritors of the victims of the genocide has sparked great interest in the past couple of days.

Barsegh Gartalian has informed that judge of California's Central District Court Christina Sneider has approved the applications for only 996 inheritors.

This decision is final and is not subject to appeal. The commission had received 13,790 applications (nearly 3,840 were sent by the RA Ministry of Justice) of which 12,794 were denied due to lack of corresponding documents. The names of the addressees, according to countries, are not subject to be released yet, but letters will be sent to everyone within two weeks, including those who were denied. According to Barsegh Gartalian, the decisions were ready in July-August 2009, but the court reached the verdict only in late January 2010 due to technical difficulties.

According to the Justice Ministry's press service, the sums make up a total of 17.5 million dollars of which 11 million 350 thousand will be given to the inheritors and the rest is foreseen for benevolent companies and judicial expenses.
