Sasun Mikaelyan, charged with "mass disturbances" in the wake of the February 2008 presidential election, was taken from the Hospital for Convicts to Nork-Marash Medical Center today morning. Presently, he is being examined in the cardiology unit of the hospital.

"The examination is under way. The results will be informed later in the day," cardiologist Arevik Stepanyan told A1+. Mikaelyan's condition was satisfactory when he was transferred to the hospital, added the cardiologist.
Arsen Babayan, a spokesman for the Department of Penitentiaries at the Ministry of Justice, promised to give information on Mikaelyan's health condition a bit later.

Remind that the prominent oppositionist, who was stripped of his parliament mandate in October, 2009, was diagnosed with serious respiratory problems that had adversely affected his heart.

He complained of health problems since the day of arrest. A number of political forces, Human Rights Defender, and Sasun's relatives have signaled to his grave health ever since.
