“Why shouldn’t Tsarukyan keep lions and tigers?”
The Armenian National Assembly today kicked off its spring session. Present at the National Assembly was Gagik Tsarukyan, Leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) who answered journalists' questions.
Why did the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Armen Grigoryan, resign office?
You had better address the question to Mr. Grigoryan. Do you have any more questions?
The Minister is said to have usurped great sums of money, therefore you decided to punish him for his misbehavior.
I have already said that you had better meet the Minister and pose him the questions. He will be kind enough to answer your questions.
Arthut Petrosyan has worked in different power structures. Why did you decide to nominate him for the post?
It doesn't matter where he worked. The most important is that an official must be able to rule the structure entrusted to him. This is the point.
Was Mr. Grigoryan unable to rule the Ministry?
I have answered the question ten times. Address all your questions to Armen Grigoryan, he will answer them.
MP Ruben Hayrapetyan has apologized to you. Are you already on good terms with him?
Ruben Hayrapetyan is our friend and we are on good terms. Our relations can even better if you [journalists] do not interfere.
You have been abroad for a long time. Different rumours were circulated about your absence. Have you heard them?
No, I haven't. I don't know what journalists write about me but I went abroad for some business.
At the turn of the year Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan announced that he would suggest the Republican Party that no businessman be allowed to run for Parliament.
You had better ask Mr. Abrahamyan why he has made such a statement. I have already said that a person who makes investments in his homeland is concerned with his country's prosperity and future-wellbeing.
Armenia's ex President Robert Kocahryan is said to be returning to politics. What do you think of this?
I have no idea. Everyone knows Mr. Kocahryan's working style and mode of behaviour. If he has such an intention, I think we shall be the first to know.
Will the Prosperous Armenia change its strategy during this session?
We haven't discussed the issue yet.
We have got many complaints from the citizens of Abovyan concerning traffic discomforts. Citizens say that they have to change 2-3 buses to get to Yerevan.
We have taken those measures for our people. If they have any complaints we shall do our best to meet their demands and make them content.
According to Azerbaijani mass media you feed your animals on 10 kg meat every day while people starve in Armenia.
Let Azerbaijan think of its people. Besides, if Azerbaijanis keep dogs and cats, why shouldn't Tsarukyan keep lions and tigers?
