Distorted?
Members of the Armenian Delegation of the RA National Assembly to the PACE in Strasbourg David Harutyunyan, Naira Zohrabyan and RA permanent representative in the Council of Europe, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, organized a meeting with newly elected president of the PACE Mevlut Cavusoglu. The meeting was held by the Armenian Delegation's initiative, as reported by the department of relations with public and the media of the RA National Assembly.
Congratulating Mr. Cavusoglu on taking office of president of the PACE, representatives o f the Armenian Delegation asked the president to give clarifications on his interview with the Azerbaijani APA agency.
The PACE President told members of the delegation that the APA agency interpreted his words and distorted the meaning of what he had said.
According to Mr. Cavusoglu, he did not say the word-combinations used in the interview, but talked about current issues in the region, including relations between Russia and Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan and Turkey and Armenia that must be normalized through negotiations. He also said that the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process is within the format of the OSCE Minsk Group and that he believes that the PACE may play a supporting role in the resolution to all conflicts, especially the conflicts that relate to humanitarian issues.
