Georgia-Armenia Protocol
Support A1+!The delegation led by Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri paid a one-day working visit to Yerevan this morning to participate in the 8th Georgian-Armenian inter-governmental commission on economic cooperation.
Before the session, Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri met with his Armenian counterpart Tigran Sargsyan.
The Prime Ministers presided the session during which the sides gave consent to the text of the Protocol. In his opening remarks, Tigran Sargsyan said:
"We register that there is serious progress in all spheres of cooperation. Today the members of the working group informed us about all the issues that are being discussed. I am happy to register that my colleague and I came to agreement on all the issues. I am certain that the solution to those issues will contribute to the political, economic and social cooperation between our countries. There is no field that is out of the circles of our cooperation. I am certain that the points mentioned in the agreement open new opportunities for cooperation."
During the session the process of completing the decisions taken during the previous session held in Tbilisi on December 9, 2008, the current state of the legal-contractual base between the sides and trends for development, the state of development of trade cooperation and perspectives, as well as issues relating to cooperation in transportation, agriculture, energy, healthcare and social security, education and culture, nature protection and tourism were discussed. The prime ministers expressed gratitude to the inter-governmental commission for the effective work, mentioning that friendly relations between Armenia and Georgia are developing.
During the session, the prime ministers signed a protocol based on the results of the inter-governmental commission.
It was decided to hold the ninth session in Georgia.
After the session, the Georgian and Armenian Prime Ministers held a joint press conference, followed by the meeting with RA President Serzh Sargsyan.
At the end of the working day, the delegation led by Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri was served an official dinner on behalf of Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
