Free move is basis for integration
Armenian and Bulgarian Foreign Ministries held a consultation.
On January 18 the Armenian and Bulgarian Foreign Ministries held a consultation in Sofia. The consultation was headed by Deputy Armenian Foreign Minister Karine Ghazinyan and her Bulgarian counterpart Marin Raikov.
The sides discussed issues relating to regional and world developments, the implementation of the plan of actions of the European Neighborhood Policy, the partnership of both countries within international organizations and the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the Black Sea region.
The Armenian side attached importance to the implementation of the proposition on "free move of citizens in a secure environment and the liberalization of the entrance visa regime" established in the proclamation of the Eastern Partnership program. It was mentioned that Armenia's involvement in the CE Plan of Actions established within the framework of the EU Neighborhood Policy will provide the opportunity for strong cooperation with the EU, as well as integration into the European domestic market.
Touching upon the Armenian-Bulgarian partnership in the political, commercial-economic, scientific and cultural spheres, the sides mentioned that there has been considerable progress, especially in the spheres of science and culture and the "Year of Armenian Culture" festival will launch in Bulgaria in June of this year.
The sides also exchanged views on the reforms taking place in both countries, the relations with neighboring countries, the talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations.
On the same day, Mrs. Ghazinyan gave a lecture on "Foreign Policy of the Republic of Armenia and Regional Cooperation" at the diplomatic institute under the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
